The Irene Disaster

Often, I think about the hungry children. I thought about them during hurricane Irene. For two days, I had no lights, no phone, and I was about to loose all of the food in my freezer. At least, I had Ginger Snaps and cold hush puppies with cold slaw to eat. I am nervous of  using matches to light gas stoves. It was just too hot to use the stove. I had no air-condition or an electric fan because their was no power.

As I looked outside, I thought about homes being lost and maybe even stores. Just imagine having nothing. Trees damaged a lot of homes, cars, and telephone poles. Water damaged homes and cars also. I know of one person that had a fire during the storm because of maybe an electric problem. Her and her family could have lost their lives if their gas tank would have exploded. They lost their shed. Their homes were surrounded by water, but they were blessed that the water did not go into their houses. It's a sad time for everyone.

Well, I was blessed. The storm made me think about all of the big trees I need to cut down and some other things I need to get rid of. There is always work to be done.

Fundraising for the Poor

Sometimes I send money to, "Feed the Children" or "World Vision". I get a lot of letters from them as soon as I send a donation. Sometimes I put the letters on my kitchen table to save them until I have the money to send. Sometimes there are just too many letters to keep.

I asked one of the organizations how I could start my own organization in helping the poor. One of the organizations told me that it would not be easy. Well, I thank God that we do have some organizations to send money to at least. If I could, I would fundraise for the poor. The only thing that I know to do is to save and give from my own money, because it's not easy just like a particular organization told me. People are careful with their money and afraid it will not get to the poor. Well, they should be, but always think of the poor.

Angry Tornadoes

For the first time in real life, I have seen some great damage that an angry tornado left behind. I have seen twisted trees with their tops broken out. I have seen houses with broken windows and vinyl siding ripped off. I have even seen damage of brick homes and smashed cars. Tornadoes seem  more angry this year and are moving closer to my home. I think God is moving his hand away from people in protection. I think he is very angry and trying to tell us that he is by allowing bad things to happen. People are not listening to him and some are not even praying. It is a bad thing to have to see anger through tornado disasters.
